The Castle of Santa Catalina is a copy of an Italian castle, rises 24 meters above sea level on the hill same name, seashore, in the town of Tarifa, Cadiz province.; was hermitage and became Fort. This strategic location defensive buildings housed at different times. In the nineteenth century placed an artillery fort still remains, and during the Second World War was well protected with several machine gun nests and bunkers. On the hill, which was a small island, there was a chapel which was reflected in the drawing that in the sixteenth century by Van der Wyngaerde, in which they appear in the foreground the hills of Santa Catalina and San Telmo.
