D. JOSEPH MIRANDA DE SARDI
José Miranda de Sardi, was born in Chipiona on 11 February 1899, was an important writer in the generation of 27 and one of the leading exponents of social poetry of that era. Born into a peasant family, their studies were done he just freely, and without more direction than his teaching eager will.
By a twist of Barbate life came in 1923 where he created the newspaper "El Heraldo de Barbate" and "Independence of Barbate. In 1930 he moved to Tarifa, where he founded the newspaper "El Progreso." In 1933 José Miranda de Sardi goes to Cadiz, where he died on August 8, 1936, victim of his ideas, with first deputy mayor of the capital.
The Full Council of Chipiona in extraordinary session on September 16, 1983 at the request of the Delegate of Culture, adopted to impose the name of "Poet José Miranda de Sardi" to the street to what was then called "The Goose."
